The mission of Great River Arts is to create and sustain a New England based arts center that supports and nurtures visual and literary artists and provides regional youth programs. A non-profit organization, Great River Arts brings faculty from the literary and visual arts disciplines to teach in the Connecticut River Valley and other select locations. These areas of study are addressed both independently and in cross-disciplinary explorations.

Most courses are held in Bellows Falls, VT or Walpole, NH unless otherwise noted. Days generally begin at 9:30 a.m. with a demonstration in the use of materials and technique. Visual arts participants go on site to paint for the balance of the day, or paint still life compositions in a studio setting.

Classes and workshops take place in the GRAI studios at 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls or other area locations.

Lunch break is generally from 12:30 to 1:30. There are choices of restaurants in the Bellows Falls / Walpole area.

The day usually ends between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., but our facilities stay open for those who would like to paint or print into the evening hours.

Materials for classes are the responsibility of the participants unless otherwise noted in the class description. A list of recommended materials will be provided upon receipt of your registration.
